Thrilling Stuff From the Domaine Marc Colin

The Producer

|
The active participants in this domaine are the young
Colin siblings Joseph, Caroline and Damien. Joseph
takes care of the vineyards and makes the wine,
Caroline looks after the domaine’s
administration and Damien holds the purse-strings and
oversees marketing. An older brother split in 2005,
taking his share of the family’s vines, setting
up shop in Chassagne nearby.

The youth of those holding the reins here has
resulted in a constant questing for betterment.
Techniques have been tweaked: less oak is employed;
greater freshness and communication of terroir is the
goal.

How often can one say that one is drinking the
product of a vineyard that is over 100 years of age?
The red below was planted 110 years ago, the age of
the plants lending great intensity and concentration
to the wine made from them. The white is one of my
favourite value picks every vintage.
