Ruché - Grape Variety
Ruché is thought to have come from Asti in Piedmont in northern Italy. It produces wines of moderate colour, high alcohol and firm tannic structure. It also gives wines of excellent aromatic profile. It is mostly used to produce dry red wines, but has also been employed in the making of dessert wines. It is a minor variety, with only c. 100 hectares grown in the world, all in Piedmont.
