Pinot Meunier - Grape Variety

Meunier is French for "miller", hence Pinot Meunier is so called due to the white dusting of hairs on the underside of the leaves of the plant. It is grown mostly in Champagne where it is the lesser of the three principal grapes of the region (although some producers afford it greater significance, with a few mono-varietal cuvées now being marketed). As with all Pinots, Meunier is a mutation of Pinot Noir.
