Viognier - Grape Variety

It has long been said that Viognier hails from the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, but this is now thought to be erroneous and that it actually comes from the northern Rhône, where it is the grape of Condrieu. Viognier was traditionally under-used since it is tricky to cultivate and produces a meagre yield of fruit; modern knowledge and techniques have overcome those challenges. Viognier creates a wine of exuberant character: richly textured, with aromas and flavours of flowers, nuts, peaches and cream.
