Counoise - Grape Variety

Ancient stuff, this, appearing first in text in the early 17th century. Counoise is one of the "Châteauneuf thirteen" (the thirteen grape varieties permitted in the wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape) although there is a whisper that it might have originated in Spain. Plantings are diminishing in France where it is a dedicated southerner that is often blended with Aubun.
