2013 Gigondas, Bouïssière

2013 Gigondas, Bouïssière

Ref: BOUI130
Red  |  Still  |  14.5% ABV

60 years ago Antonin Faravel planted vines in a sector of Gigondas called Grande Bouïssière: land that he had inherited from his father. Having worked for Amadieu (another local wine firm), Antonin started out selling his production to his former employers. He first bottled his own wine in 1979. The estate is now run by Antonin's sons Thierry and Gilles and their sister Josiane.

Tasting Notes

N.B. This is 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre.
Delicious-smelling aromas of red fruit liqueur, all a touch floral and cherry-ish: Grenache fruit, evidently. Palate is rich and liqueur-like, yet it is supremely elegant and wonderfully fresh, with a limestone rockiness through it. This is long and intense and lovely. There are some really blocky tannins at the finish: tannins that will melt with bottle age. Very fresh within, this. Superb. Intensity and elegance: what a fabulous combination!

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
