Albarossa - Grape Variety

Albarossa originates in the Veneto, but is now largely grown in Piedmont. One of its parents is Barbera. It ripens late and likes poor soils on south-facing slopes. The wines it produces are generally deep in colour, highly structured and fresh acidity. It is rare, with only around 12 hectares of vines in the world.
