2008 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

2008 Château Mouton Rothschild, Pauillac

Ref: 080BORD
Red  |  Still  |  13.2% ABV

In 1853 Château Brane Mouton was bought by Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild, and it was at this time that the property's name was changed to that which we known today. Nathaniel's great-grandson Philippe changed to 100% chateau bottling for the 1924 vintage, having a special label designed to mark the occasion. A special label was not again commissioned until the end of WWII, when the '45 vintage bore a specially designed victory ticket. A different label has been commissioned every vintage since. In 1973, after a long struggle by Philippe, Mouton joins the ranks of the first growths.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

N.B. 83% Cab Sauv and 17% Merlot A fresh nose, a touch floral, with hints of smoke. The fruit is all about pure cassis. An easy, ripe entry, then the palate picks up minerality and laid-back grip. The minerals are like ground, metallic glass for the moment. The tannins are quite raw, but very nicely integrated. This is altogether long and finely balanced. A very cool wine and a highly structured one. Good persistence. Medium plus acidity. This is busy and complete, if a little unformed at the moment. Bowes Wine original note

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
