As is common, the name of this property comes from erstwhile owners, having been variously under the auspices of both a Monsieur Peyraguey and Monsieur Lafaurie in the 17th and 18th centuries. This property - once a 13th century fort - was purchased by the firm of Cordier in the early 20th century. It changed hands again in 1984 and again in 2014, when it was sold to Silvio Denz, who has spared no expense in pushing ever higher the quality of Lafaurie. Part of the chateau is now a hotel with a Michelin starred restaurant.

"The 2001 Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a very refined, elegant bouquet that demonstates more mineralite than the previous vintages: great tension here with marmalade, quince and dried honey scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening. The acidity is nicely judged with touches of spice and nutmeg, although the finish is quite linear and does not quite deliver the panache of its peers. Still, this is drinking extremely well now and should continue to give pleasure over the next decade or so." Neal Martin
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
