2017 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett, Selbach-Oster

Ref: SELB170
White  |  Still  |  10% ABV

Selbachs have been cultivating Riesling vines in the Mosel since 1661. Today Johannes Selbach and his wife Barbara run the Estate which is now one of the leading producers in the Mittel Mosel. There are 10.6 hectares of vineyards including holdings in Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Zeltinger Sonnenuhr, and Graacher Dowmprobst. The grapes are hand picked and then fermented in traditional in large oak barrels. The emphasis here is on finesse and purity of fruit with supremely elegant Kabinett and Spatlese wines as well as powerful and more concentrated Auslese wines.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

Aromas are ripe pear fruit with a hint of lanolin and notes of smoke and spice. I can also identify mint, lime and green orange. Some quite pith-like aromas. This is off-dry and offers pear and apple fruit that becomes firmer throughout, arriving at a really mineral, stony sustain. Really direct wine of great dimension. Super-juicy and intense. Just a stunning thing. Bowes Wine original note

"Riesling with a seemingly coolish character but a warm and wide soul...This is still young but already very attractive."94/100." Stephan Reinhardt

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
