2006 La Tâche Grand Cru, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

2006 La Tâche Grand Cru, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

Ref: ROMA061
Red  |  Still  |  13% ABV

Two hectares of Vosne vineyards owned by the church were bought by the de Croonembourg family in 1631, renaming the land Romanée and adding the neighbouring La Tâche. In 1760 the holding was acquired - following a bidding war with the king of France's mistress - by the Prince de Conti. The vineyards were appropriated by the state during the revolution and, having changed hands a couple of times, ended up in the possession of Jacques-Marie Duvault-Blochet in 1869. Duvault-Blochet subsequently added parcels of Echézeaux, Grands Echézeaux and Richebourg. The five-and-a-bit hectares of Romanée-St-Vivant were leased to the domaine by the Morey-Monge family in 1966 with the sale finally agreed in 1988. Together the DRC range constitutes some of the world's most sought-after and expensive wines.

N.B. Not OC/OWC

"The 2006 La Tâche Grand Cru is a vintage that I had not tasted since it was in barrel. But what a gorgeous wine it has turned out. The bouquet is so seductive, a heady mixture of red and blue fruit, pressed violets and citrus fruit that soar from the glass with amazing precision. The palate is medium-bodied with precise tannin, velvety smooth in texture with layers of red fruit laced with black cherries, Earl Grey and even a hint of liquorice. Monitoring the wine over several minutes it seems to gain depth and persistence. Beautiful." Neal Martin

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
