The name Usseglio has Italian origins; this estate was founded in 1948 by Francis Usseglio who had immigrated from Italy in 1931. Francis had two sons, Pierre and Raymond, both of whom went on to found their own domaines. In 1999 Pierre's sons took over the estate and work 24 hectares of vineyards from their spotless winery in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

"One of the wines of this incredible vintage is unquestionably the 300-case 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Deux Freres from the Usseglio brothers. A big bruiser of a wine that has a huge core of cassis and black currant fruit, it gets more and more elegant with time in the glass and offers complex notes of roasted meats, garrigue, beef blood, licorice and truffle. Made from 100% Grenache aged mostly in new barrels, it’s absorbed every trace of its elevage and is just a sensational Chateauneuf du Pape to drink over the coming 10-15 years. 100/100." Jeb Dunnock in 2017
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
