There was a Roman villa on the site of Saint Gayan, as demonstrated with every ploughing, when the family turn up shards of pottery from that era. The family can trace its local origins to the 15th century, but ownership of this site by a direct descendant of the family began in 1709. Today Saint Gayan works 38 hectares of vines.
"dark, black tinted robe. Wide, masculine, intense but also polished bouquet: it bears a southern strength, but has an underlying potential for elegance; the fruit is ripe, sleek, clear. Bright, shapely fruit leads the palate; soaked black cherries feature, and it comes with plenty of oak, tobacco, tar, dark chocolate, black raisin packed in near the finish. It is fresh, and develops blueberry fruit and minted moments. It is a promising, assertive, heated wine. From late 2016." John Livingstone-Learmonth
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
