2000 Hermitage La Chapelle, Paul Jaboulet Aïné

2000 Hermitage La Chapelle, Paul Jaboulet Aïné

Ref: 000JABO
Red  |  Still  |  13.5% ABV

Sounded in 1834 in the northern Rhône, Jaboulet produce a vast range of wines, red and white. Some vintages of certain wines were among the finest bottles made anywhere (several vintages of Hermitage La Chapelle come to mind), but overall the wines were inconsistent and the firm (both a vineyard owner and negociant) was bought by the Frey family of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux in the early noughties.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"Mature ruby with a brick rim. Looks between 15 and 20 years old. Obviously Northern Rhône on the nose – and pretty mature at that. Dry, dusty, slight brett. A very different animal from the rest – absolutely classic traditional north Rhône – Côte Rôtie? – with marked acidity and some lightly dusty tannins. Much more acid than the rest." Jancis Robinson in 2008

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
