Bordeaux is the only wine producing region in the world that insists on buyers coming to evaluate the new vintage virtually as soon as the wine has finished fermenting and before it undergoes what can be a majorly transformative period in barrel (known in French as élévage). One is then expected to stick out one's neck and request the stock one thinks one will require.
