Wine has been made at this property since at least the mid-19th century and was one of the first properties of the commune to bottle their own wine, as far back as the 1800s. Since then, through acquisition, the vineyard area has gradually increased. This was the property of the family of celebrated wine consultant Alain Reynaud, who was born here, but ultimately sold his share in Croix de Gay (although it remains in the hands of the family). In 2012 a large area of vineyards was sold to the owners of Château Evangile. This current vine area is only 3.5 hectares.

A deep black purple colour leads to a delicious-smelling nose of ripe blueberries and black cherries, pure and deep. In the mouth, the fruit expands across the palate in a sumptuous wave of black fruit. There's a hint of the wood, but it's thoroughly dominated by the wine's lush texture. Long and lovely and, hopefully, a Pomerol bargain! Bowes Wine original note
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
