2016 Bordeaux Tasting Notes - Dry White

2016 Le Blanc d'Aiguilhe, Bordeaux Blanc
100SB.
There's real spice here. Grapefruit and salted green apples. Nice clean and quite lean long palate with very good energy. Real spice through the length. Nicely intense wine.

2016 Château Bouscaut Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
55SB; 45CS.
Bit of crisp chicken skin to the mixed citrus aromas. Hint of rhubarb and angelica, fresh and dense. Delicious lime and angelica flavoured wine that picks up peppery incisive grip. Firm at the death. Long and busy wine woth real lime juice juiciness at the back. Fab.

2016 Château Carbonnieux Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Airy nose, a touch leafy showing granular mineral notes and lemon peel. There's a firm green apple freshness through this. Long, with cached lemon and green apple acidity. Becomes firm and dense. This is backward but firm and dense. Long, with great intent at the back. A keeper.

2016 Château Chantegrive Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
50SB; 50S. 13.8%abv.
Topuch of toast to the delicious slightly leafy-rich grapefruit aromas. Tastes of ripe - possibly pink - grapefruit, dense and cool and spicily mineral. Long with a hint of Kaffir lime leaves to the grapefruit. Really dense through; real spice towards the back. Very good.

2016 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
There are hints of toasted lime about this, plus white currant and green leafy aromas. Palate is dense and full with a glue-y weal of rich, white currant fruit and great sustain, within which lies the granular minerality. A long and linear wine, with peppery length. Fab-u-lous.

2016 Château de Fieuzal Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
A rich nose, a touch exotic, of orange and lemon fresh and pure fruit. Good orange density. This is rich in the mouth with very good spicy grip. Long and assertive. Toasty length. It finishes very well. Just seems more contrived that the Dome de Chev. Should age well, though.

2016 Château de France Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Aromas are of ripe grapefruit and peach; really peachy, in fact. Very richmouthful of ripe, peachy fruit. BIG grip with a mineral dusty core within. Firm lemon and (esp) lime acidity. Very long. The whole peach thing is a bit disturbing, but this is good wine.

2016 Château Haut Bergey Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
This also smells quite peachy! A rich, ripe thing with lots of creamy wood. Touch bitter. No.

2016 Clarté de Haut Brion, Pessac-Léognan
23.7SB; 76.3S. 13.4%abv.
Really pungent/leafy this. Pepper spice orange aromas emerge. Touch Choisya leaf. This is a dense and ripe wine with flavours of green orange, becoming lime. There's mild grip from half way through. Long. There's something peppery here. And it finishes with a lift of lemon and lime spiced freshness. Nice.

2016 Château Haut Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
70.5SB; 20.5S. 13.85%abv.
The nose here is pretty shy. There's a hint of leaf and green orange and spice. Entry is rich and supple, of green and small orange fruit. It collects spicy-dense minerality as it goes. A long and rich wine with Kaffir lime leaf grip to it. A biggun, with serious grip and serious spiciness. BIG wine.

2016 Château Latour Martillac Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
A richly scented nose of Choisya leaf and white currant. Hint of Plasticene and grapefruit. A dense and quickly fresh palate. A backward wine with really firm orange and lime pith density. Big grip here and a spicy, incisive minerality. Green orange effect. Lively. A biggun.

2016 Château Malartic Lagravière Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Lively, leafy blackcurrant leaf nose showing some toast and a green apple cut. Aromas are clear cut. Very good fresh density to the nose. Lemon and lime leaves. Dense elegant and complete wine; direct, with great energy held within. Confident and very nicely shaped. Long and peppery with dense mineral glue at the core. Very, very long. Very peppery death.

2016 Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux, Bordeaux Blanc
A rich and ripe nose of white fruit: white currant and snappy pear and yellow apple. Palate is rich and delicious and with the ripe yellow apple fruit is a core of saline-mineral freshness. Long and easy and very delicious.

2016 Clos Marsalette Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
60SB; 40S.
A nice nose, quite complex, of berryish fruit with a hint of grapefruit. A firm, citrus quality to the aromas. Nice line here: linear, long and steady. Becomes a bit more intense at the back. Very nice and clean and very drinkable.

2015 Château La Mission Haut Brion Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
62.7SB; 37.3S. 14.15%abv.
This is more reserved, a touch meaty, giving up aromas of small orange and white currant and nut. Palate is very rich and very quickly caching orange-fresh acidity. There's great grip through much of this. Very mineral density at the core. Very long indeed. Elegant push to the very long finish.
Nardian, Bordeaux Blanc
20Musc; 40S; 40SB.
Rich nose of spiced pear fruit. Nicely rich and grippy. A long wine, becoming intense. Lots of spice here. Lots here altogether. It's stuffed and very good.

2016 Château Pape Clément Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Rich aromas of apple custard and vanilla. Bit of a pudding! A bit vacuous. Long enough. Airy green apple fruit. Big grip that's pretty intense. Okay.

2016 Château Picque Caillou Blanc, Pessac-Léognan
Orange scented nose. Nice bitter lemon lift. Decent energy Long. Really quite nice.

2016 Le Blanc de Suduiraut, Bordeaux Blanc
50SB; 50S. 13.75%abv.Notes of grapefruit and other mixed citrus. Floral scents, too. This is an easy drinker. Palate offers more grapefruit, but is sweetly ripe. There's a welcome lift at the back. Very drinkable white.

2016 S de Suduiraut, Sauternes
56S; 44SB. 13.9%abv.
Ripe, pure, orchard fruit of apple and pear fruit, plus a nutty overtone. This is dense and spicy. Mild acidity and great, sustained density with nutty grip and great intent. Quite a serious example. Age-worthy, too.
