Gnemiz is the home estate of Serena Palazzolo’s family. Serena now runs Gnemiz with her sons and partner, the well-respected Christian Patat. Christian is a friend of Enzo Pontoni, owner of Miani, and was a major influence in Miani's elevation to leading star in Italy's white wine firmament.
Success here, as at Miani, comes from respect of the vineyard soils; at Gnemiz, that means “ponca”, the hallowed local sandstone that produces such mineral finesse in the best wines of the region.

“A mix of roses, violets and a dusting of confectioner’s sugar lifts up from the 2018 Schioppettino, along with sweet herbs and wild strawberry, which creates a captivating display. It’s soft and textural yet also refined and pure, with red fruits and savory spices which give way to pretty inner florals. This leans further toward the savory side throughout the finale, as minerals and a sour twang of tart currants and cherry pits linger. The drinkability factor here is off the charts. The Schioppettino is the only red in the portfolio that has a small percentage of stems left intact during fermentation, which adds to its spicy herbal character.” Eric Guido
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
