Ref: BOTT242
White  |  Still  |  14% ABV

Weingut Bernhard Ott is one of Austria’s most innovative producers of Grüner Veltliner. The Ott estate, founded in 1889 and still family-run, farms 50 hectares of certified biodynamic vineyards. Bernhard Ott’s approach is firmly rooted in low-intervention winemaking: whole-cluster maceration, 100% stem inclusion, and spontaneous fermentations in a mix of Stockinger fuders. Ott was also a founding member of respekt-BIODYN in 2007, alongside Johannes Hirsch and Fred Loimer - a group now synonymous with the advancement of biodynamic viticulture in Austria. The winery is based in Feuersbrunn, in the south-western Wagram, with vineyard holdings just north of the village as well as a small but significant parcel in the Stein vineyard across the Kamptal border.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"Pale greenish-yellow with silvery highlights. Delicate notes of yellow tropical fruit, a hint of pineapple and papaya, subtle hints of blossom honey and candied orange zest, with a mineral touch. Full-bodied, tightly woven, elegant texture, delicate stone fruit, pleasant acidity, a mineral-salty finish, very good balance, a composed, long-lasting pairing for food, great aging potential, a delicately spicy aftertaste. 98-100 points." Peter Moser, Falstaff

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
