If You Like Top Italian Wines, But Not the Price…
...This Is For You
Wouldn’t we all like to drink Brunello di Montalcino and/or super-Tuscan red wines regularly?
But their tickets are becoming prohibitive. Brunello at £80 a bottle just ain’t what you’d call everyday quaffing. Sunday lunch maybe. Birthdays? Yes, please.
Super-Tuscans are often that price multiplied by a factor of quite a bit, especially when one enters the realms of the likes of Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Tignanello etc.
But there is a way to drink top Italians for a fraction of these prices. How?
Well, these top estates often have little side-projects that are slightly under-the-radar. Or they have vineyards outside the DOC/DOCG on which they lavish just as much attention, but cannot charge top dollar. Or perhaps they’re simply fabulous producers in a slightly less feted location.
Herein lies a sweet spot!
