Beautiful ruby colour in the glass, this. The nose is dry and smoky and rather closed at present, but does show a great deal of spice. The palate rivets the tasters attention with flavours of iron and red and black fruits. Grip is high and through the grip comes this intense drive swathed in masses of fine, spicy, tacky tannins. This is very long indeed and really juicy-fresh. Great spice at the back here. One senses that beyond the trapdoor of the wine's youth lies a glinting treasure trove to be revealed with a few more years in bottle. Very senior stuff. Bowes Wine original note
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
