On 13th November I'll be driving down to Burgundy for my annual few days of tasting the new vintage, in this year's case the 2015s, which are reputed to be fabulous. I am concerned about price rises and not simply due to the results of the Brexit referendum. '16 was marred by wicked frosts in the Côte d'Or and, once again, there will be a sizeable shortfall in volume. And so damaged were the vineyards that it is altogether likely that 2017 will be similarly afflicted. I suspect that growers will be intent on clawing back as much revenue as they possibly can with the 2015 releases.

All this means that the world will likely turn back to see what remains of recent vintages in the marketplace. After all, we have had a series of harvests - 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 - that have produced extremely tasty wines.

Allen Meadows', AKA Burghound, notes:

2011 - "...2011 produced any number of excellent wines that will be worthy of your attention..."

2012 - "...the average 2012 white burgundy is perfectly good and should make for delicious drinking early on yet be capable of amply rewarding mid-term cellaring..."
2013 - "...the best 2013 are wonderfully refreshing, energetic and transparent medium-bodied wines...indeed they are classic white burgundies in almost every respect."
2014 - "In fairness how good 2014 ultimately turns out to be is an open question but it's the best vintage since at least 2010 and probably 2008."

2013 Santenay Blanc, Bachelet-Monnot
£156 in bond a dozen  Drink 2016-21

2013 Meursault Vieilles Vignes, Buisson-Charles
£297 in bond a dozen  Drink 2016-20

2013 Meursault 1er Cru Gouttes d'Or, Buisson-Charles
£252 in bond per 6  Drink 2018-24
- 2x6 available
"...very good weight in the mouth with a precise, quite spicy and concentrated finish that lingers long in the mouth...Excellent." Neal Martin

2013 St Aubin 1er Cru En Montceau, Marc Colin
£246 in bond a dozen  Drink 2016-24
- 3x12 available
"The palate is well balanced with lemon zest, orange peel and hints of peach all served up with a side order of spice on the finish. It's perhaps a little brash compared to the other premier crus, but there is plenty to savor here and the length is impressive." Neal Martin

2013 Puligny-Montrachet, Jean Pascal
£123 in bond per 6  Drink 2017-20
- 4x6 available
"The nose is shy, but the palate is really assertive; balanced with covered lemon grip. A touch saline, this. Long and busy and very lovely. Lemon and green apple fruit. Very Puligny and really delicious." My note

2013 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Hameau de Blagny, Jean Pascal
£180.30 in bond per 6  Drink 2018-23
- 3x6 and 1x12 available
"The nose is floral and has spice aromas twined through it...Spicy and rich and dense and showing a hint of the wood right now. But this is also profoundly mineral. Touch minty and very straight. This is really exciting wine. Very direct and long with a fabulous, full, intense finish." My note
