Wine Spectator Wines of the Year 2007

The results just in. 3rd prize goes to 2005 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Vieux-Donjon; wine of the year accolade is given to 2005 Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Clos des Papes. I am happy to say that both wines appeared on our Rhone offer issued earlier in the year. The Clos des Papes is long gone, but we still have a very few cases of the Vieux-Donjon should anyone be interested.

To reiterate, 2005 was a superb vintage in the Rhone, especially the south. For my money, CndP is one of the most exciting wine producing regions around. If you would like another look at what's remaining from our offer, go to the offer and check out the wines that still have baskets by them.

By the way, we still have a little of the 2005 white Clos des Papes. Why is so hard to sell white Rhone wines?! I'll never understand it. I guess I'll keep buying them and hope that one day the world's obsession with sauvignon blanc and chardonnay will diminish.
