The latest offerings from Italian wine legend Miani

Enzo Pontoni from Miani

This is Enzo Pontoni. He looks like a rock star. He could be Charlie Watts's brother. And, indeed, for those cognoscenti of Italian wines, this guy is the real deal: a true rock star...if, by "rock", one is referring to the soil and sub-soil of the vineyards he knows so intimately. 

And Enzo is properly obsessed. He's obsessed with his vineyards in which he spends most of his time; he's obsessed with his wines, only allowing liquids he considers to be perfect to leave his cellar bearing a Miani label. (I have consumed utterly fabulous Friuli wines - indeed have bought utterly fabulous Friuli wines - that turn out to be rejects from Miani, bottled by someone else under a different label. Other people's fabulous is just not good enough for Signor Pontoni. 

I have to fess up. I have not yet tasted these wines. And yet I am buying them and offering them with the utmost confidence. As I say, if they've passed the Miani quality control checks, I am happy.
