New Bowes Wine website now live

After several months of hard work, we are inordinately proud to announce that our new Bowes Wine website is now live! The address remains the same, www.boweswine.co.uk, but the content is very different. We have brought together the various strands of our wine business in one modern e-commerce platform:

Wine Offers

Ever since Bowes Wine was first launched in 2002, we have endeavoured to bring exciting wines to our deserving clients. Whether a new vintage from a classic region, a parcel of perfectly mature wines, or some left-field juice bottled by a cutting edge experimentalist, Caspar Bowes has always striven to provide a constant source of new, exciting and interesting wines. As always, we will introduce these wines in the form of an offer but whereas in recent years ordering was via an email to Caspar, you can now, should you wish, buy directly from the website by adding the wines to your basket, specifying your delivery requirements and completing the checkout process online.

Company Stock

And whilst you are purchasing a case of that obscure Spanish wine Caspar happened upon when travelling round the vineyards of Europe, you might want to have a browse through our current stockholdings. We have a diverse range of wines from both the classic and the newer wine regions of the world, with young and older vintages.

If you are looking for something and you can't find it on our website, do get in touch as we are very happy to try and source wines on behalf of our customers. 

Broking Stock

We are now also listing a constantly expanding range of Broking Stock, i.e wines we are selling on behalf of our customers. (These are indicated on the product details with "Broking Stock" just beneath the price.) 

We have been selling wines to private individuals for over 16 years. During that time, many of our clients have built up significant portfolios of wine. Many of them are now at the stage where they are looking to sell some of those wines, in order to buy others, or simply because they have too many cases of a particular wine. All these wines have been in accredited UK bonded warehouses since first shipment to the UK and we are therefore certain of the "provenance" of these wines. We can list them here on our site with confidence and the e-commerce functionality of our new website means that the purchase process for you is straightforward.

In addition to our own clients' wines, we are happy to sell other wines as long as there is a paper trail of provenance. If we sell anything where the provenance has gaps or uncertainties, we will always indicate this on the product details. Should you wish to discuss selling your wines, please email Caspar. 

Caspar's Blog

For over 11 years, Caspar Bowes has written a blog which features reports on new vintages, wines available to buy from Bowes Wine, buying trips abroad, trade tastings in London and his general musings on the world of wine. At times, it has also included reports on fishing trips, and wines consumed on the riverbank, but we are moving away from that now. (To clarify, he is not moving away from fishing but moving away from including his fishing trips in his blog!)

If you subscribed to the blog before, you shouldn't see any change as your subscription has been moved across (as have the 11 years of posts). There is an RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed so you can Subscribe to the RSS feed via your RSS feed reader or via Outlook. Any problems in subscribing, here is a useful page from Microsoft Support.

The Daily Drinker Wine Club

The Daily Drinker Wine Club and online shop still has its own website and will continue to do so. However, you will see an easy link across from boweswine.co.uk to thedailydrinker.co.uk in the form of Daily Drinker banners; click on the banner to go to The Daily Drinker website to browse our unique range of everyday-but-esoteric drinking wines, or to find out more about our wine club memberships.

Soft Launch

Whilst we are very excited by our new website, we would stress that at this stage it is very much a "soft launch". We have populated the site with some 150 wines but we have about the same number of wines yet to add... Furthermore, we are aware that some of our older wines are missing tasting notes and descriptions, and we have a lot of work to do behind the scenes to make the website fully search-engine-optimised.
