As is so often the case, the name of this property was taken from the surname of the owners. The Tronquoys sold the property in the mid-19th century. One hundred years later (and having passed through several hands) the estate was bought by the well-known Casteja family. In 2006 Tronquoy Lalande was bought by the Bouygues brothers, owners of senior St Estèphe property Château Montrose. The Bouygues made their money in telecommunications and, it being no object, spent €10 million on the renovation of Tronquoy Lalande, turning it into a "green" winery. The wine is made by the same team that makes Montrose.

"Deep crimson. Real lift on the nose. Thick and sweet and earthbound but admirably balanced. Dances. Fresh and succulent." Jancis Robinson
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
