2014 Château Tertre Rôteboeuf, St Emilion

2014 Château Tertre Rôteboeuf, St Emilion

Ref: BORD14162
Red  |  Still  |  13.8% ABV

In 1961, owner Emile Gilard died leaving this estate (at the time part of neighbouring Bellefont Belcier) to his daughter. At that time it was known as Le Tertre. Shortly afterwards, Le Tertre was split from Bellefont Belcier and its name changed to its current incarnation in the first vintage of François Mitjavile, son-in-law of M Gilard. Mitjaville had studied wine making at Château Figeac, returning to make the 1978 vintage. Tertre Rôteboeuf is an organic, 6 hectare vineyard producing one of the finest wines of St Emilion.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"The 2014 Le Tertre Roteboeuf, now in bottle, has a very refined and pure bouquet, with red cherries, wild strawberry and a touch of orange blossom—all very Burgundy-like in style. The palate is very well balanced, with crisp tannin, hints of fig and date infusions that complement the red berry fruit, and a touch of white pepper toward the long finish. This is turning out to be a delicious (as banal as that reads) Le Tertre-Roteboeuf with the tannic structure to suggest that it will give pleasure over the next 20-30 years." Neal Martin

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
