Jose Antonio Garcia and his wife Julia Peña García run this business together. Both are from Bierzo, where Jose's family have owned vineyards for generations. When young, Jose lived and worked in Barcelona. His job in restaurants gave him a good knowledge of fine wine and he returned to Bierzo in 2009 to take over his family vineyards. He is a protégé of Raul Perez, one of Spain's most celebrated wine makers and he is now one of Bierzo's most exciting talents.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

The pale 2018 Aires de Vendimia Godello is balsamic, varietal and also serious, with good finesse, reflecting a cooler year when the wines reflect the conditions with more freshness. It comes from sandy soils that tend to deliver fine and elegant wines. This has moderate alcohol and, thus, a medium body and very good freshness and acidity, with parameters that are not common for the variety. The juice from the direct pressing was put in 500-liter oak barrels to ferment with all the solids and with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in those same containers with the fine lees for one year. The wine does not show any oak whatsoever. It's precise, tasty and long. 93/100.Luis Gutiérrez

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
