Clos du Marquis was originally conceived as the second wine of Château Léoville Lascases and was among the first ever second wines of Bordeaux. In recent years, the cuvée has changed in concept. Le Petit Lion is now Lascases's second wine and Clos du Marquis is another wine from that venerable property, coming from a distinct set of vineyards.

"The 2009 Clos du Marquis is tightly wound on the nose, gradually unfurling to reveal blackberry pastilles, boysenberry, pencil shaving and subtle mint aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, good weight in the mouth, and crisp acidity. Fresh and vibrant with a gentle grip on the finish that perhaps would benefit from more persistence. Otherwise this is very fine." Neal Martin
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
