Wine Variety: Durella is a light-skinned white grape variety with its origins in the Veneto region of northern Italy. With high levels of acidity, it is used in the production of still, sparkling and dessert wines, and tends to produce light wines with predominantly floral and citrus character, and perhaps some mineral notes. Interestingly, the grape variety is called Durella but once vinified it is then known as Durello. Both words clearly derive from the Italian word for hard, which is presumed to refer to the thick skins of the grape.
Wine Region: We are in The Veneto here, Italy's most productive wine region (largely due to the enormous volume of Pinot Grigio and Prosecco produced). The vines are on the hills of Lessinia, located between the provinces of Vicenza and Verona. The soil is of volcanic origin, with tuff and basalt, rich in iron, magnesium and other microelements.
Wine Producer: Cielo e Terra is a joint venture between two families, Cielo, who have been making wine for over a century in Veneto, and the Cantina Sociale Colli Berici. The combination of the Colli Berici vineyards and the Cielo winemaking skills produces consistently good quality wines from both indigenous and international grape varieties.

It’s pale in the glass and bubbles are rising invitingly. The nose takes one to the summertime, with aromas of crisp apples, through which wafts a subtle toastiness. The palate welcomes a puff of fine mousse on entry and those summertime orchard fruits return ripely. The ripeness is quickly cut through with what is really pretty firm acidity. The flavour lasts long and finally gathers a fine, lightly clay-like structure. Light and fresh… and very easy to drink.

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
