Red  |  Still  |  13.5% ABV

The Pichon Lalande vineyards was the creation of Pierre de Mazure de Rauzan, a man behind a number of top Médoc properties. M de Rauzan's daughter married Jacques de Pichon Longueville, who subsequently became the first president of the Bordeaux parliament. Their son Joseph de Pichon Longueville took over the running of the estate when he was 19 and lived until he was 91,a fter which the estate was divided equally between his five children. Some years later the estate was split into the two Pichons that exist today. After WWI, Pichon Lalande was bought by the Miailhe brothers and it was the daughter of Edouard Miailhe - May-Eliane de Lencquesaing - who took over the estate in 1978, expanding the vineyard area and working tirelessly to raise the quality of the wine. In 2007 this 89 hectare estate was sold to the owners of Champagne Louis Roederer.

"Tasted blind. Deep garnet. Mature and maturing ripe dark fruit. Yet fresh and lightly herbal. Juicy and extremely elegant tannins, silky and perfectly matched to the fruit. Chalky finish." Julia Harding MW

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
