2019 Krakhuna, Vachnadziani

Ref: VACH191
White  |  Still  |  12.5% ABV

Vachnadziani was established in 1953 and is one of the oldest wineries in Georgia. During the Soviet years the vineyard fell into disrepair, but now the vineyards and cellars have received considerable investment. The aim is to preserve their ancient wine culture while combining it with cutting edge technology. With over 1,000 hectares of vineyard, covering the Kakheti region in eastern Georgia and the Imereti, Racha and Lechkhumi regions in western Georgia, Vachnadziani cultivates 25 vine varieties - the majority of which are indigenous.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

An unassuming dry white wine that grows on the drinker steadily after the first sip. One finds orchard fruits - pear and apple - accented by a hint of something lightly resinous. It smells clean and delicious. The palate is squeaky clean as well and through those orchard fruits comes a streak of zippy acidity. There's earth inside, too. It's very long. A fresh and lovely thing, this.

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
