Duhart-Milon (known simply as Milon at the time) was one of the many Médoc properties owned by the Marquis de Ségur, a stable that included Lafite among others. The well-known Bordeaux family Casteja bought Milon in the nearly 18th century and held it until 1937 when inheritance woes led to its resale. The property then changed hands five times in the next 25 years before the Rothschilds of Lafite secured it in 1962. It was then in a very poor condition; the vineyards had been split and the 1956 frost decimated the vines. Duhart-Milon is in the Pauillac docks and was believed to have originally belonged to a local pirate, a man whose house appears on the label. It now encompasses 76 hectares of vines.

"A blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Merlot, it displays an inky/blue/purple color as well as a big, sweet nose of creme de cassis, forest floor, licorice, lead pencil, cedar and subtle barrique smells. Viscous and full-bodied, it is the most concentrated and broadest example of this cuvee I have tasted in over three decades. It will be ready to drink in 5-7 years and should last for three decades or more. Consumers looking to maximize value should be checking out Duhart Milon, as this may be the single smartest purchase in this great and historic vintage!" Robert Parker
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
