2023 Xinomavro Rosé Single Vineyard Hedgehog, Alpha Estate

2023 Xinomavro Rosé Single Vineyard Hedgehog, Alpha Estate

Ref: ALPH230
Rosé  |  Still  |  13% ABV

Alpha Estate was founded in 1997 by the viticulturist Makis Mavridis and chemist-oenologist Angelos Iatridis who, after years of experience in various locations of Greece, chose the Amyndeon region in north-west Greece to create their own wine.

The privately owned vineyard of the estate is situated on a plateau at an altitude of 620-710 m with a northwest exposure, covering a total area of 180 ha. The local climate is characterized by cold winters with sufficient rainfall and snow which provide the vines with the necessary water supplies to endure the relatively dry summer.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

There's a hint of the cold ferment about this on the nose, but so much else besides. I could find lemon and pink grapefruit notes in its lively aromas, allied to summery scents of raspberry. The palate is dry and has superb density. It's a long thing and has minerality in its structure right through. The piquant interest in the grip at the back. An energetic wine housing firm, vigorous acidity within. Super long. Super lovely. Bowes Wine original note

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
