The oldest vineyard in Crozes-Hermitage appellation, Domaine de Thalabert has been owned by Paul Jaboulet Aîné since 1834. The domaine now covers 45 hectares with deeply rooted old vines, planted from 1934 to 1975 which produce small and intense berries. The Frey family took over the Jaboulet estate in 2006, since when Caroline Frey has completely transformed the vineyards and winemaking facilities.
A pioneer of organic and regenerative viticulture in the region, Caroline has established a 7-hectare wildlife reservoir, around the core of the Thalabert vineyard. 100% Syrah and certified organic, with 13% ABV. Aged in French oak for 12 months, of which 20% is new oak.

“…the best vintage of Domaine de Thalabert in more than a decade and a rival to the legendary 1978.” Stuart Piggott
“I love its overall sense of balance and elegance, and it has good concentration as well as ripe tannins. It actually reminds me slightly of the 1990 (which is absolutely brilliant today).” Jeb Dunnock
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
