2004 Château Canon, St Emilion

2004 Château Canon, St Emilion

Ref: BORD0444
Red  |  Still  |  0% ABV

Whether Château Canon takes its name from erstwhile owner, the privateer Jacques Kanon, or the Fronsac estate of the same name owned by the family to whom Kanon sold this property is unknown. What is known is that Kanon expanded the vineyards and built the original chateau on the site. The Fontemoing famliy owned Canon for many years until the mid-19th century when Canon was sold several times, finally being taken on by the Fourneier family in 1919. They invested heavily in the vineyard and estate and resided here until 1996, when Canon was sold to the Wertheimer brothers, oweners of Chanel. As with the Wertheimer's other estate - Rauzan Ségla in Margaux - Canon has been managed by John Kolasa. Kolasa has now retired, his place being taken by Nicolas Audebert, former wine maker at Cheval des Andes.

"Gunflint, iron and bloody meat – classic St-Émilion nose! Very juicy and captivating. All very harmonious with the tannins almost fully resolved. Classic stuff." Jancis Robinson

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
