2017 Savigny lès Beaune Les Pimentiers, Camus Bruchon

2017 Savigny lès Beaune Les Pimentiers, Camus Bruchon

Ref: CAMU170
Red  |  Still  |  13% ABV

This domaine has its origins in the early 18th century, but was most recently run (until his death in 2017) by the charming Luc Camus. Luc's own father died when Luc was only 12 in 1961 and Luc took the reins of the domaine in 1972. This is a winery that, in a more celebrated commune, would rightly be very famous. It is just that their home commune of Savigny is so overlooked: shame, as it is to where the cognoscenti go for a proper bargain. Camus-Bruchon is now run by Guillaume, Luc's son, who works c. 8 hectares of vines in Savigny, Beaune, Chorey and Pommard. The Savignys, from exceptionally old vines, are some of the finest wines of the appellation.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

N.B. Vines here are 90 years of age. The nose is all about rather floral, blue and nicely defined fruit, plus a fresh mineral note. Cherry. This gives a plush, fleshy entry of dark cherry, dense fruit followed by a very directand piquant line of earthy-fresh structure. Very long thing combining freshly-picked red and black cherry fruit. It finishes really busy-juicy, on peppery structure. A stunner! Bowes Wine original note

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
