2009 Château Siran, Margaux

2009 Château Siran, Margaux

Ref: BORD09118
Red  |  Still  |  13.7% ABV

The grandparents of the celebrated painter Henri de Toulouse Lautrec once owned this venerable property, the vineyards of which date from the early 15th century, making it one of the oldest in the commune of Margaux. The wine from this 24,5 hectare vineyard for a while imitated Mouton Rothschild in that it was bottled with a label displaying a new work of art every vintage. It also has a part of the wine cellar dedicated to resisting a nuclear event.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"In last year's tasting note, I mentioned that the 2009 Siran was one to watch. Revisiting the wine again almost (but not quite) a year later, the nose is unchanged with those blackcurrant and graphite aromas. The palate indicates a little more depth than 12 months ago, still tensile and fresh with a convincing grip. There is still some new oak to be fully assimilated towards the finish so afford it another year or two, no longer, and you will have a lovely 2009 Margaux on your hands, one that will give pleasure over the next 15-18 years. Tasted January 2017." Neal Martin

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
