The 48 hectares of this vineyard are in a single block near the estuary in the north of the commune of Margaux. It has a history dating back to the 13th century, but the modern era started with Pierre de Mons who bought the property in 1623. His family owned the estate until the end of the 20th century. This cru bourgeois chateau is now managed by the Crédit Agricole group whose other properties include Grand Puy Ducasse in Pauillac, Meyney in St Estèphe and Rayne Vigneau in Sauternes.
"The 2011 Tour de Mons has a conservative bouquet with dusky blackberry, wild hedgerow and cedar aromas that would benefit from more intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with light, quite supple tannins and it coalesces nicely in the mouth with pleasant redcurrant and raspberry notes towards the sedate finish. Fine early drinking." All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
