Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

What a nose. Almost GC levels of class and complexity and distinction here. Smoky, definitely. Really sauvage in its riveting red and black fruit. There’s ripeness here, yet also control and definition. A floral, pot pourri element, and something mineral which comes across like lemon limestone. This is much more aloof, more backward. There’s a cool density here and real class. Masses of rich mineral tannins. Sustained and completely in control. Needs a few years, but this has everything 1er cru Gevrey should and then some. Superb finish: out of sight and real dimension. Bowes Wine original note

"Invitingly open with ripe, dark and spicy/peppery fruit. It smells as if there were some stems in the ferment but apparently not. The tannins are finer than on the village Gevrey and the whole is more elegant, with a long fresh finish. A bit lean at the very end. Needs time. Wonderful scent in the empty glass promises much." Julia Harding MW

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
