2018 Rosso Buri Bellaria, Ronco del Gnemiz

2018 Rosso Buri Bellaria, Ronco del Gnemiz

Ref: GNEM181
Red  |  Still  |  14% ABV

Gnemiz is the home estate of Serena Palazzolo’s family. Serena now runs Gnemiz with her sons and partner, the well-respected Christian Patat. Christian is a friend of Enzo Pontoni, owner of Miani, and was a major influence in Miani's elevation to leading star in Italy's white wine firmament.

Success here, as at Miani, comes from respect of the vineyard soils; at Gnemiz, that means “ponca”, the hallowed local sandstone that produces such mineral finesse in the best wines of the region.

Tasting Notes

“The 2018 Buri Bellaria Rosso is stunning. It’s primarily old-vine Merlot with a dollop of Refosco (about 10%), and it shows a breathtaking bouquet of crushed violet candies, lavender, geranium, white smoke and blueberries. It’s soft and silky, seeming to hover on its mid-weight frame, running the gamut “of flavors from fleshy wild berries to salty minerals, savory spices and herbal tones. There’s structure here, yet it’s nearly masked right up to the very end, where inner florals and tart blue and black fruits linger. This is so beautiful today that it’s hard to recommend waiting, yet the best is truly yet to come. Also of note is that this is the first vintage of this bottling, as the Palazzolo family only recently took over management of this vineyard from Miani.Eric Guido

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
