2018 Rosso di Montalcino Ignaccio, Il Marroneto

2018 Rosso di Montalcino Ignaccio, Il Marroneto

Ref: MARR180
Red  |  Still  |  14% ABV

This 9 hectare estate is located immediately to the north of Montalcino town. Owner Alessandro Mori works soils of light, marine sand and has no interest in producing fruit-forward, early-drinking wine. Il Marroneto brunelli tend to be floral and mineral in character. They also age supremely well. Mori stopped making riserva wine as he considers it has become something of a gimmick.

Tasting Notes

"The 2018 Rosso di Montalcino Ignaccio is flat-out delicious with a woodland and almost-autumnal profile. Wild strawberries, blueberries, lavender and sage mix with hints of cinnamon and flowery undergrowth. It’s silky-smooth, almost velvety in feel yet perfectly balanced and full of life, displaying ripe wild berry fruit and inner violet florals. There’s enough structure here to carry the 2018 for a number of years in the cellar, but who can keep their hands off of it today? Alessandro Mori selects his Rosso from the same barrels he uses to make Brunello, yet after only a year of aging." Eric Guido

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
