2021 Malagousia, Ktima Gerovassiliou

2021 Malagousia, Ktima Gerovassiliou

Ref: GERO210
White  |  Still  |  13.5% ABV

Having studied agriculture in Greece, Vangelis Gerovassiliou travelled to Bordeaux, where he completed courses in Oenology, Viticulture, Wine-Tasting and the Technology of Wine-making equipment at the University of Bordeaux. Thereafter, he worked as oenologist at one of Greece's most famous and historic wineries and it was here that he single-handedly revived the variety Malagousia, which was all but extinct at the time. He returned to his family vineyards in 1981 renovating them and extensively planting both Greek and international grape varieties. He has subsequently been a partner in the creation of a number of other wine-producing estates, including Biblia Chora.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

A pale wine in the glass, glinting lemon and lime. Nose is a delicious summery amalgam of peach and apricot, as well as spice. Across the tongue, this has fabulous weight, is rich up front before becoming drier with its structure. Acidity is held well within the fruit component and is really firm and pithy: a sort of green orange freshness that adds a touch of refreshing bitterness. Very long wine. It offers a lively push through the back end, is vital and juicy throughout the second half. This is both fascinating and delicious. Smoked fish would work well. Roast chicken. Cheese. Some bolder salad. Bowes Wine original note

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
