2011 Chassagne Montrachet Village, Bachelet Monnot

2011 Chassagne Montrachet Village, Bachelet Monnot

Ref: BACH111
White  |  Still  |  13% ABV

Marc and Alex Bachelet have rapidly taken their 10 hectare domaine to the top of the Burgundy hierarchy. They work their vineyards naturally, eschewing herbicides. And they practice pre-ox for their whites, a technique whereby the pressed juice is allowed to oxidise before fermentation, stabilising the finished wine and obviating the risk of prem-ox i.e. the wine ageing prematurely. A domaine renowned for their electric white wines, do not ignore their reds, which are utterly delicious too. The domaine headquarters are in the delightfully-named Dézize-lès-Maranges, in the very south of the Côte de Beaune.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

The nose here is wonderfully dense, shows richness and a wealth of minerals. There's a touch of oatiness to the grapefruit and an intriguiing hint of aniseed. This is a very mineral wine. Freshness is really incisive and, together with the spicy minerality forms something of great purpose. Very long and returning to the freshness with a scrunch at the back. There's the merest hint of the wood. This coats the mouth in a very fine minerality. A long and lemony wine of great resource.

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
