2009 Hermitage La Chapelle, Paul Jaboulet Aïné

2009 Hermitage La Chapelle, Paul Jaboulet Aïné

Ref: JABO090
Red  |  Still  |  14.5% ABV

Founded in 1834 in the northern Rhône, Jaboulet produce a vast range of wines, red and white. Some vintages of certain wines were among the finest bottles made anywhere (several vintages of Hermitage La Chapelle come to mind), but overall the wines were inconsistent and the firm (both a vineyard owner and negociant) was bought by the Frey family of Château La Lagune in Bordeaux in the early noughties.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"It will be thrilling to follow the 2009 and 2010 la Chapelles over the coming 40-50 years. Much more sexy, voluptuous and layered than the 2010, the 2009 Hermitage la Chapelle offers sensational levels of extract and concentration to go with notes of cassis, black raspberries, coffee bean, toasted bread and sweet spice. Beautifully pure, layered, and yet massively endowed, with sweet tannin, it will be drinkable at an earlier age than the 2010, but I suspect will be just as long lived. It's a true tour de force in Hermitage!" Jeb Dunnock

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
