Giugi Sesti grew up in Venice and much of his life has been dedicated to the study of astronomy, on which subject he is a published author. For thirty years Giugi organised an opera festival in Tuscany, whilst refurbishing the hamlet of the Castello di Argiano and its 102 hectares. There are eight hectares of vineyards here, situated to the south of the town of Montalcino.

There’s already complexity here in the aromas of iron and dark cherry fruit and sweet spice, allied to something a touch rooty. It’s initially a richly fruited thing in the mouth, then direct and compact with its intense, controlled throughput. The back end is swathed in crumbly-rich tannin. The dark cherry fruit is a touch closed today, but this has a finish that is out of sight. What a superb Sesti.
"The Sesti family burned bales of hay for two nights during the 2021 April cold snap, managing to keep frost damage to under 15%. Despite slightly less quantity, this Brunello speaks distinctly of its sun-kissed landscape. An exotic mix of potpourri florals, baked herbs, sundried tomato and coffee swells from the glass. Neither austere nor overly forward, it flirts with a bloody, irony undertow. Sumptuous red berries are swaddled in fine, powdery tannins – these are sensual in delivery, wielding power without force. Culminates with a tamarind tang." Michaela Morris 95 Points Decanter
“The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a cascade of sweet violet and lavender tones before settling on dried roses and cherries. It is elegant and nearly weighty in feel, with tantalizing acidity to balance and cool-toned red berry fruits swirling throughout. The 2021 turns inward on itself through the finish, long and pleasantly tart, as fine-grained tannin frames the experience beautifully.” Eric Guido 94 Points Vinous
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
