2013 Coudoulet de Beaucastel, Beaucastel

2013 Coudoulet de Beaucastel, Beaucastel

Ref: BEAU133M
Red  |  Still  |  12% ABV

Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the most celebrated estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The vineyard is situated at the northern limit of CNDP where it benefits from its exposure to the mistral winds. All 13 permitted varieties are planted in the vineyard and used in the wine. The 30 hectares of Coudoulet vineyard are located just east of the vineyard of Beaucastel; the soils are very similar with the characteristic large pebbles called "Galets Roulés" which store heat during the day and release it gradually at night. Coudoulet de Beaucastel is often referred to as the "baby Beaucastel".

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

"pretty full red robe. Has a smoky, dark red berry, briary, dried herbs aroma, liqueur of cassis de Dijon at its heart. It is a pretty big start. The palate is immediately expressive, full of running, bears spiced fruits with a tarry, insistent intensity on the finish. Licorice and a line of freshness keep it on the move. It has the body to handle its pepperiness. Can be drunk in its youth with a good steak, for example. The finish will be more refined and less dusty from spring 2017. 2026-28  Oct 2015." John Livingstone-Learmonth

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
