Vinsobres is a relatively new Appellation d'Origine Contrôllée, created in 2006 before which it was one of the Côte du Rhône Villages; it is located in the most northern part of the southern Rhône. The Perrin family, of Château de Beaucastel fame, make this entrancing example of Vinsobres from a single plot of vines grown at 300m altitude and largely on terraces.

This is a superb colour in the glass. And the nose gives off a rich, chestnut-dark plum fruit of really good purity and definition. The palate kicks off with a pure and silky entry and then the lovely dark fruit asserts itself. In the mid-palate I found a burst of menthol. This is a very long and meaty wine; busy, complete and nicely complex. There's a sophisticated salinity to the minerality here. Very long thing and a fabulous one. Bowes Wine original note
"There are only 5,000 bottles of this full-bodied, richly textured wine for the world, so fans will have to move fast...94-96/100." Joe Czerwinski
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
