2006 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée, Pegau

2006 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée, Pegau

Ref: 060PEGA
Red  |  Still  |  14% ABV

Although the Feraud family - owners of Pegau - have been in the region since at least the mid-17th century, it was Paul, the father of Laurence (the family member currently IC here) who started to bottle his own wines, the fruit previously having been sold off to negociants. The domaine's name was changed from Feraud to Pegau in the late '80s, at which time the vineyard area in Châteauneuf amounted to some 7 hectares, rising to 21 hectares today. In 2012 they added 40 hectares of Côte du Rhône vineyards. This is a source of very traditionally-styled Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

The nose here is spicy with liquorice aromas. There is a suggestion of chocolate to the black cherry and damson fruit; hints of earth, roasted game. This is very mineral in the mouth and these minerals support small plum and black cherry fruit of great concentration. There are nutty, firm, integrated, ripe tannins and a hint of coffee at the finish. This is powerful and rather elemental at the moment, but with such potential. Bowes Wine original note

Sweetness Explained
Sweetness Explained

Sweetness

All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.

Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
