Marc and Alex Bachelet have rapidly taken their 10 hectare domaine to the top of the Burgundy hierarchy. They work their vineyards naturally, eschewing herbicides. And they practice pre-ox for their whites, a technique whereby the pressed juice is allowed to oxidise before fermentation, stabilising the finished wine and obviating the risk of prem-ox i.e. the wine ageing prematurely. A domaine renowned for their electric white wines, do not ignore their reds, which are utterly delicious too. The domaine headquarters are in the delightfully-named Dézize-lès-Maranges, in the very south of the Côte de Beaune.

The nose here offers precise, defined aromas of powdered rock, Golden Delicious apples and smoked nuts. The palate goes in the mouth rich, but almost instantly crisp, apple acidity appears. This is direct and consistent and hugely long. It is also elegant and offers upright, grippy sustain. A stunning example of village Puligny. Bowes Wine original note
All our wines are given a Sweetness Indicator from 1 to 5, with 1 being the driest and 5 being the sweetest.
This can be found for every wine under the Wine Details tab.
Most red wines are dry and therefore are indicated with a 1. The sweetness becomes more relevant with white wines, sparkling wines and pudding/dessert wines such as Sauternes and Tokaji.
